started walking backwards
when you saw me down the road
I let you go
talking talking like you never tried to lay me low
I let you go...
...pockets full of daddy’s dough
powder in your nose
you’re rock and roll
you’re so rock and roll
I can tell a story all about my stolen soul
I bet you know
yes i bet you know...
imagine on, imagine on,
imagine on my love
never smile, no style
original my love
slow start, fast hart
you’re a natural
never smile, no style
original my love
As far as indie albums in the 2010's and beyond go, this is one of the most cohesive and emotive albums I've experienced looking back on it and is Jay Som's best album tokyonoir
I’ve known of STRFKR since around the time this album was originally released (2012 or 2013, most likely). That said, it’s taken me until now (February 10, 2023) to listen to STRFKR. And allow me to say this is something I somewhat regret. This album reminds me a lot of MGMT’s “Oracular Spectacular” but less polished. There’s an earnestness to these songs that is undeniable, and it’s a helluva lot of fun. If electro rock is your cup of tea, bring an empty cup; STRFKR’s gonna make sure it’s full. Kirk Gauthier
This album rips. I’ve passed on Japandroids for several years since discovering Polyvinyl Records, and I have to admit I regret that decision immensely. This album is fast, furious, and a LOT of fun. Kirk Gauthier
Dreamy indie rock a la Duster/Sparklehorse with interesting with dynamic shifts and subtle hooks to keep things moving along. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 23, 2024
Absolutely brilliant, dreamy indie folk-rock. Most of the songs are somewhere between two and three minutes but feel as though they last a lifetime (in a good way). Beautifully heart-wrenching from beginning to end. Kirk Gauthier
